D.W. Brooks Award
Zenglu Li, Georgia Seed Development Professor in Soybean Breeding and Genetics, received the D.W. Brooks Award for Excellence in Research.
Zenglu teaches plant quantitative genetics and epitomizes the mission of IPBGG with his development and application of genomic tools in a widely recognized soybean breeding program.

McClintock Prize
Robin Buell, GRA Eminent Scholar and one of our newest IPBGG members, received the prestigious McClintock prize, notably named for Nobel-prize winner Barbara McClintock, a pioneering maize geneticist.

UGA Inventor of the Year
John Ruter was named the 2021 UGA Inventor of the Year due to his productivity in breeding ornamental cultivars, in particular hibiscus and holly. John’s ornamental cultivars delight our aesthetic side, bringing appeal to a variety of landscapes.

Southeastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award
Peggy Ozias-Akins, D.W. Brooks Professor and Distinguished Research Professor in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, was named the University of Georgia’s recipient of the Southeastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award.
