Mentor a Young Scholar

The Young Scholars Program (YSP) is a paid six-week summer internship program for high school students interested in agricultural, food, and environmental sciences.

Selected students work 30 hours per week actively engaged in research under the guidance of a faculty mentor on the UGA Athens, Griffin or Tifton campus. During the program, students attend workshops and visit agricultural operations to gain exposure to the various fields of study and careers in agriculture.

Mentor an REUU Intern

Fellows will work on research projects for 9 weeks this summer with Plant Center faculty mentors in hands-on laboratory and field-based research experiences in crop genetics and genomics.

Fellows will also take part in a ‘Plant Breeding’ field trip to learn firsthand how genetic and genomics research is used to improve crop cultivars. In addition, Fellows will participate in a service-learning project to develop an understanding of the connection between research, extension and crop production. Professional development opportunities covering career options, research ethics, networking, and science and public communication are also part of the program.

The E. Broadus Browne Research Awards for Outstanding Graduate Student Research are given in recognition of Director Edmund Broadus Browne’s distinguished service to the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Station (GAES). The award memorializes not only his professional contributions to the college and the experiment stations but also his popularity among the staff.
