In his own words ...

Where are you from, and why did you choose to study at UGA CAES?
I am native to India, completed my BS from Visva Bharati, India and MS from Punjab Agricultural University, India. I grew my interest in UGA for the first time during my bachelor's when I learned about the Tif23-A, the CMS line of pearl millet released in 1965 by UGA. However, currently, I work with zoysiagrass and finger millet. I chose UGA Griffin Campus due to its legacy in turf breeding and international reputation in the turf world! .

Tell us about your thesis/dissertation research.
Zoysiagrass and finger millet are close relatives and come under the same subfamily, Chloridoideae. My PhD dissertation aims to explore the genetics of salt tolerance in these two crops using QTL mapping, transcriptomics and metabolomics.

David Jespersen

Why did you choose your major(s)?
